Sensex ends up 10pts

The Sensex ended (provisional) at 17,759 - up 10 points. The Nifty ended at 5,328 - up 12 points.

Sensex touched a high of 17,782 - up over 150 points from the day's low. The index, however has gain dropped and is now trading flat at 17,747.

The Nifty is flat at 5,317.

BSE mid-cap and small-cap indices have gained substantially in the meantime. The mid-cap index has jumped 0.7% to 7,115.

Marico is the top gainer in this sector and has soared 14% to Rs 132. Amtek Auto, Bajaj Electric, Anant Raj Industries, Sterlite Tech are the big gainers.

BSE small-cap index is up 0.6% at 9,019.

Gabriel India is leading the list of gainers in the index and is up 15% at Rs 65. Balaji Telefilms has surged 9% to Rs 59.

Abhishek Industries, Dolphin Offshore, Panacea Bio and Shopper's Stop are the other gainers in the index.

Among Sensex stocks Maruti Suzuki has added 2% to Rs 1,398. Hindustan Unilever has advanced 2% to Rs 267.

Other gainers include ICICI Bank, Reliance Communications and Tata Steel.
