Sensex ends up 141pts

The Sensex finally ended (provisional) at 16,834, up 141 points. The NSE Nifty ended (provisional) at 5,001, up 42 points.

The Sensex is trading at 16,857, up 165 points and the Nifty is quoting at 5019 points, up 50 points.

The foremost gainers among the BSE sectoral indices are IT, Teck and healthcare.

The leading Sensex gainers are Sun Pharma (up 6.7 points at Rs 1,400, TCS (up 3.8% at Rs 609) and ICICI (stronger by 2.8% at Rs 862) and Wipro (up 2.4% at Rs 2,289). Infosys, Reliance and ONGC have gained between 1% and 2% each.

The top Sensex losers are SBI (shed 2.2% at Rs 2091), Grasim (lost 1.6% at Rs 2,789 ) and Jaiprakash Industries (lower by 1.3% at Rs 234). Reloiance Communication, HDFC and Maruti have lost upto 1% each.

Out of 2,829 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1,741 advancing stocks as against 1,003 declines.
