The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 66 points at 14,610. Fresh buying in the market saw the index rally to a high of 14,682. However, profit taking towards the end of the day saw the index slip into negative zone to a low of 14,540 - down 142 points.The Sensex finally ended with a gain of 26 points at 14,571.The BSE Bankex and IT index moved up 1% each to 7683 and 4908, respectively. The FMCG index, however, was down nearly 1% at 1891.The market breadth was positive - out of 2,653 stocks traded, 1,372 advanced, 1,186 declined and 95 were unchanged today.A MIXED BAGCipla soared 3% to Rs 224. Satyam and SBI surged 2% each to Rs 479 and Rs 1,378, respectively.HDFC Bank rallied 1.7% to Rs 1,159. Gujarat Ambuja spurted 1.3% to Rs 115.BHEL, Infosys and ICICI Bank were up over 1% each at Rs 1,414 and Rs 1,940 and Rs 928, respectively.Hero Honda tumbled 2.6% to Rs 713. ITC and Tata Motors shed 1.3% each to Rs 161 and Rs 747, respectively.Bharti Airtel and HLL were down over 1% each to Rs 838 and Rs 201, respectively.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSMIC Electronics topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 281.40 crore followed by Indiabulls Real (Rs 243 crore), SBI (Rs 99.20 crore), Unitech (Rs 86 crore) and Reliance (Rs 80.35 crore).Reliance Natural led the volume chart with trades of around 75.40 lakh shares followed by MIC Electronics (70 lakh), Petronet LNG (68.45 lakh), Himchal Futuristic (60.25 lakh) and Indiabulls Real (59.80 lakh).
