The markets went through a roller-coaster ride on Friday.
The Sensex opened nearly 300 points in the red, but rebounded and settled 300.94 points higher at 14,656.69. It touched an intraday high of 14,682.33 and low of 14,032.87 points.
The Nifty ended up 80.60 points at 4,413.55, after touching a high of 4,422.95 and a low of 4,235.70 during the day.
Buying was confined to capital goods, metal, refiners, banks and IT stocks as these were available at attractive levels following the initial fall.
RCom, a Sensex constituent, declined by Rs 63.25 to Rs 436.80 due to heavy selling. Brokers said the company’s quarterly results were a little below market expectations.
