Sensex exhibits volatility; BHEL down 6%

The Sensex has been extremely volatile. In the last one hour, the index slipped into the red but has however managed to recover and is now trading flat at 14,313, up 12 points.

Metal and Auto indices lead the rally so far. The BSE Metal index and the Auto index have surged over 5% each to 9,929 and 4,542, respectively

Jaiprakash Associates continue to surge 6.5% to Rs 175. Hindalco, Reliance Infrastructure and Mahindra & Mahindra have added around 5.5% each to Rs 82, Rs 1,118 and Rs 661, respectively.

Ranbaxy, Tata Steel, Maruti and Tata Motors have advanced 4% each to Rs 219, Rs 343, Rs 1,042 and Rs 318, respectively.

BHEL has tumbled over 6% to Rs 2,032. Bharti Airtel. DLF and Reliance Communications have slipped 5% each to Rs 867, Rs 364 and Rs 299, respectively.

Market breadth is positive, out of 2,360 shares traded, 1,995 have advanced, 308 have declined and 57 are unchanged so far on the BSE.
