The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 183 points at 9,898. Earlier in the day, the index had pared early gains and slipped to a low of 9,633.
Reliance Infrastructure and Satyam have soared nearly 6% each to Rs 581 and Rs 167, respectively.
DLF has surged 5.4% to Rs 267. SBI has rallied 5% to Rs 1,262.
Wipro has moved up nearly 5% to Rs 255. ICICI Bank and BHEL have gained 4.5% each at Rs 452 and Rs 1,400, respectively.
TCS has advanced over 4% to Rs 497. ITC and Jaiprakash Associates have added 4.7% each to Rs 179 and Rs 80, respectively.
Reliance Communications has moved up 3.5% to Rs 210. NTPC, ACC and Infosys are up 3% each at Rs 179, Rs 501 and Rs 1,173, respectively.

The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,288 stocks traded so far, 1,185 have declined, 1,021 have advanced and 82 were unchanged.
