The Sensex continues to extend gains, and is now up 224 points at 9,291. Earlier in the day, the index opened 62 points higher at 9,129, and soon touched a high of 9,225. The index, thereafter, had slipped into red to a low of 9,041 - down 184 points from the day's high.
Grasim has soared 8% to Rs 1,285, and ACC has surged 6% to Rs 522.
Maruti and Reliance Infrastructure have rallied over 4% each to Rs 590 and Rs 543, respectively.
BHEL, Reliance and Wipro have gained nearly 4% each at Rs 1,359, Rs 1,327 and Rs 229, respectively.
ICICI Bank and TCS have moved up over 3.5% each to Rs 399 and Rs 510, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, ONGC and ITC have advanced over 3% each to Rs 636, Rs 661 and Rs 184, respectively.

Sterlite and HDFC Bank are up around 2.5% each at Rs 270 and Rs 909, respectively.
DLF has slumped nearly 11% to Rs 137. Tata Motors has tumbled 6% to Rs 134.
The market breadth is negative - out of 2,408 stocks traded so far, 1,201 have declined, 1,090 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
