The mood in the market remains firm as buying continues in old and new economy stocks, thereby pushing the index above the 6,600-mark to an intra-day high of 6,611. The Sensex is now up 61 points at 6,591. The Nifty has gained 17 points to 2,069.The market breadth is positive with 1,074 advances and 474 declines on the BSE.Reliance, on a volume of over 4.5 lakh, has jumped 1.55% (Rs 8) to Rs 542. While ITC is trading lower by Rs 5 at Rs 1,320, HLL is down a rupee at Rs 163, after resuming in the green.SBI, on a volume of over 9.49 lakh, has gained 1.29% (Rs 8) to Rs 657. While HDFC Bank has advanced nearly 3% (Rs 16) to Rs 571, ICICI Bank is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 370. Infosys at Rs 2,080 (up Rs 14) have added gains from a flat opening. Other tech majors are trading with modest gains.ONGC is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 826. While HPCL has inched up by 2.11% (Rs 8) to Rs 368, L&T has logged 2.46% gains (Rs 24) to Rs 1,000.Bajaj has gained 1.38% (Rs 14) to Rs 1,051, and Hero Honda has added 1.74% (Rs 9) to Rs 539. Tata Motors is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 491.HDFC has moved up 2.37% (Rs 18) to Rs 789. Bharti, with a volume of over 11.95 lakh, is up 1.35% (Rs 3) at Rs 222. BHEL at Rs 800 (up Rs 12) and Tisco at Rs 391 (up Rs 8) have also attracted buying support.Moser has notched up 12.19% gains (Rs 26) to Rs 243. While HMT has added 7.28% to Rs 46, Chambal Fertlisers and Chemicals has gained 5% to Rs 33. FACT, Hexaware, Ispat, Gujarat Gas, Sterlite Industries, Siemens and BoI have moved up in a range of 4-5%.Balmer Lawrie has shot up 10.32% (Rs 17) to Rs 187, and Amforge Industries has advanced 9.97% to Rs 148. Gujarat NRE Coke, Shaw Wallace and Kopran have gained between 7-9%.D-Link, however, has shed 3% to Rs 130, and Indo Rama Synthetics has slipped 2.35% to Rs 66. While Mid-Day Multimedia has lost 2.35% to Rs 79, ICI is down 1.73% at Rs 238.
