Sensex flat again; Tata Steel sheds 5%

The Sensex opened almost flat at 9710 - down five points. The index moved up to a high of 9,814, but could not hold gains and slipped back into red. The index dropped to a low of 9,633 - down 181 points from the day's high. The index has recovered all its losses and is now down 15 points at 9,700.

Satyam has soared 6% to Rs 167. Wipro has surged 4% to Rs 253.

Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Communications have rallied over 3% each to Rs 566 and Rs 210, respectively.

TCS and ITC have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 490 and Rs 177, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Infosys have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 311 and Rs 1,166, respectively.

SBI, ICICI Bank, BHEL and NTPC are up around 1.5% each at Rs 1,221, Rs 438, Rs 1,359 and Rs 176, respectively.

Tata Steel has slumped over 5% to Rs 208. Hindalco and Reliance have plunged over 4% each to Rs 52 and Rs 1,293, respectively.

DLF has shed 3.7% at Rs 244. Sterlite has tumbled 3% to Rs 263.

ONGC and HDFC are down 2.5% each at Rs 698 and Rs 1,495, respectively.
