The Sensex opened at 17,036 but soon slipped into the negative terrain owing to weakness in the global markets. The index is now at 17,004, down 30 points.
Among the Sensex 30-stocks, DLF has slipped 2% to Rs 378. SBI and ICICI Bank are down around 1.5% each at Rs 2,310 and Rs 906, respectively.
Maruti, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Power are down over 1% each.
Infosys has advanced around 2% to Rs 2,391 and Wipro has added 1% to Rs 645, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Communications, Tata Steel, Sterlite and TCS are firm.
