The Sensex has pared gains and is now unchanged at 9,035. Earlier in the day, he index opened 96 points lower at 8,939, touched a low of 8,922 in opening trades. The index, thereafter, rebounded into the positive zone and touched a high of 9,100.
DLF has soared 6% to Rs 157. Maruti has rallied over 3% to Rs 617.
Reliance has surged 2.7% to Rs 1,302. ACC and Bharti Airtel have gained 2% each at Rs 557 and Rs 645, respectively.
BHEL, Jaiprakash Associates, NTPC and Grasim have moved up around 1.5% each to Rs 1,403, Rs 69, Rs 177 and Rs 1,349, respectively.
HDFC has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,373. Mahindra & Mahindra has tumbled nearly 4% to Rs 287.
ICICI Bank has shed 3% at Rs 375. Reliance Infrastructure, TCS and SBI have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 510, Rs 479 and Rs 1,084, respectively.
The market breadth is negative - out of 2,432 stocks traded so far, 1,303 have declined, 1,026 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
