The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 25 points at 10,484. Volatility in early trades saw the index swing in and out of positive zone.Buying gained momentum in late noon deals, and the index rallied to a high of 10,695 - up 243 points from the day's low of 10,462. The Sensex finally settled with a gain of 175 points at 10,684.The BSE Teck Index soared over 3% to 2554. While the Auto Index surged nearly 2% to 4729, the Metal Index gained 1.2% at 8395.The market breadth was slightly negative - out of 2,415 stocks traded, 1,303 declined, 1,042 advanced and the rest were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSBharti Airtel and Wipro surged 5% each to Rs 390 and Rs 492, respectively. ONGC rallied 3.5% to Rs 1,130.Maruti, Gujarat Ambuja, HDFC and TCS advanced 3% each to Rs 805, Rs 103, Rs 1,198 and Rs 1,801, respectively.Infosys, BHEL, Satyam, Reliance Communications and Hero Honda added around 2.5% each to Rs 3,190, Rs 1,940, Rs 709, Rs 254 and Rs 767, respectively.ACC and Hindalco were up 2% each at Rs 810 and Rs 172, respectively. Reliance moved up 1% to Rs 1,043.ICICI Bank slipped 1.3% to Rs 493.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSReliance led the value chart with a turnover of Rs 214.15 crore followed by Tata Steel (Rs 139.50 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 94.35 crore), Infosys (Rs 89.25 crore) and Hindustan Zinc (Rs 70.28 crore).SAIL topped the volume chart with trades of around 44.64 lakh shares followed by G V Films (32.66 lakh), Reliance Natural Resources (29.25 lakh), India Cement (27.50 lakh) and Tata Steel (26.85 lakh).
