The Sensex added eight points over its last close to open at 6,659. Steady buying in old and new economy stocks saw the index edge higher to an early high of 6,681. It is now up 27 points at 6,678. The Nifty has also commenced on a higher note to 2,089 - up five points.Reliance has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 3) to Rs 550. HLL is up a rupee at Rs 147, while ITC is marginally down at Rs 1,338.Infosys has resumed in the green to Rs 2,220 - up Rs 18. Wipro and Satyam have gained a per cent each to Rs 681 (up Rs 5) and Rs 397 (up Rs 3), respectively.SBI, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are up a per cent each at Rs 700, Rs 580 and Rs 375, respectively.Bajaj has gained 1.16% (Rs 12) to Rs 1,045. Other auto majors, too, have resumed with steady gains.Bharti has added 1.50% (Rs 3) to Rs 227.
