After a flat trade, the markets have moved north with the Sensex gaining 51 points at 18,912 and the Nifty has added 10 points to trade at 5,665. The broader markets continue to trade in the negative with the smallcap and the midcap indices losing 0.4% each,underperforming the BSE benchmark index.
IT and FMCG indices up 1% each are the top sectoral gainers followed by Bankex and Consumer Durables. Capital Goods and Power down 0.7% are the top losers along with Realty, Metal and Auto shedding 0.4% - 0.6%.
ITC, HDFC, TCS and Wipro up nearly 2% are the top gainers on the Sensex followed by Infosys, HDFC Bank, Cipla, SBI and ICICI Bank gaining 0.5% -1%.
Reliance infrastructure down 5% continues to be the top loser followed by Reliance Communications, Jaiprakash Associates and Hero Honda shedding 2% - 3%
Market breadth continues to remain negative. 1477 stocks have declined while 1083 have advanced.
