The Sensex continues to display high volatility and is now up 22 points at 8,220.
Earlier in the day, the index opened 94 points lower at 8,104, and soon touched a low of 8,047. The index, thereafter, rebounded and rallied to a high of 8,265.
Ranbaxy has slumped over 4% to Rs 138. Maruti has tumbled 2.8% to Rs 649.
Hindustan Unilever has slipped over 2% to Rs 225. ITC has shed 1.3% at Rs 165, and DLF is down 1% at Rs 145.
Hindalco and HDFC have surged 2.7% each to Rs 39 and Rs 1,180, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates and Wipro have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 68 and Rs 211, respectively.
ONGC and Reliance Communications have gained 2% each at Rs 667 and Rs 138, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC have advanced 1.7% each to Rs 317 and Rs 176, respectively.
BHEL and Larsen & Toubro have added 1.5% each to Rs 1,304 and Rs 577, respectively.
The market breadth continues to remain fairly negative - out of 2,340 stocks traded, 1,496 have declined, 749 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
