The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 203 points at 9,296. This morning, the index opened 70 points higher at 9,163, touched a low of 9,152.
Realty, banking and energy stocks continue to lead the upmove. Metal stocks, too, have posted smart gains now. Auto stocks, however, continue to trade in the negative territory.
Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite have soared over 6% each to Rs 60 and Rs 252, respectively.
HDFC Bank has surged 4.7% to Rs 964. Reliance Communications has rallied 4.3% to Rs 204.
TCS and Reliance Infrastructure have gained 3.5% each at Rs 578 and Rs 521, respectively.
Tata Steel, DLF, Larsen & Toubro and ONGC have advanced 3.3% each to Rs 156, Rs 205, Rs 751 and Rs 718, respectively.

Maruti has shed 3.5% at Rs 518, and Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped over 3% to Rs 273.
