The Sensex has extended gains and has surged to a high of 14,700, up 404 points. The index is now up 383 points at 14.679.
ACC has surged 8% to Rs 780. Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied 7% to Rs 684. Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel and ONGC have gained 6% each to Rs 204, Rs 407 and Rs 1,198, respectively.
TCS, Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy, Reliance Communications, DLF, Bharti Airtel, Reliance, BHEL, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, SBI and Maruti Suzuki have added 2-4% each.
On the other hand, Sun Pharma has slumped 7% to Rs 1,221. Grasim has slipped 1.5% to Rs 2,148. Tata Power has dropped a per cent to Rs 1,087.
The market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,785 stocks traded, 2,200 have advanced while 522 have declined.
