The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 164 points at 10,522, and touched a high of 10,655 in early trades. The index thereafter has pared some gains and is now up 176 points at 10,533.
Hindalco has soared over 6% to Rs 60. Reliance Communications has zoomed nearly 6% to Rs 208.
Mahindra & Mahindra and HDFC have rallied around 5.5% each to Rs 444 and Rs 1,667, respectively.
DLF has surged 5% to Rs 213. Tata Steel has moved up 4.5% to Rs 235.
Larsen & Toubro has advanced nearly 4% to Rs 745. ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have added 3.5% each to Rs 373 and Rs 1,070, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, SBI and Tata Power have gained around 2.5% each at Rs 655, Rs 1,175 and Rs 867, respectively.

Hindusan Unilever has slipped over 2% to Rs 226, and Grasim has shed 1.7% at Rs 1,574.
ACC and Ranbaxy are down over 1% each at Rs 593 and Rs 185, respectively.
The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,117 stocks traded so far, 1,524 have advanced, 522 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
