The Sensex opened 16 points higher over its yesterday's close at 6,584. Steady gains in select heavyweights, tech and other old economy stocks has pushed the gains of the index to 6,599 - up 31 points - in current trades. The Nifty has also commenced on a firm note, and has added eight points to 2,078.Reliance has moved up a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 536. While HLL is up a rupee at Rs 146, ITC has resumed marginally lower at Rs 1,320.Infosys (up Rs 10 to Rs 2,085) and Satyam (up Rs 2 to Rs 416) and Wipro (up Rs 3 to Rs 756) have commenced with steady gains.ONGC has added a per cent (Rs 7) to Rs 821. While Bharti has gained 1.90% (Rs 4) to Rs 217, Hindalco has logged 1.28% gains (Rs 18) to Rs 1,432.Hero Honda is up 1.51% (Rs 8) at Rs 559. Other auto majors have started with steady gains.
