The Sensex opened on a solid note, clocking 45 point gains over its last close at 6,464. Steep rally in old and new economy stocks spurred the gains of the index to an early intra-day high of 6,505. It is now up 67 points at 6,486. The Nifty has gained 28 points to 2,036.Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 7) at Rs 530, and HLL is up a rupee at Rs 154. ITC, however, is marginally down at Rs 1,395.Infosys is up a per cent (Rs 19) at Rs 2,058. While ONGC has advanced 2% (Rs 16) to Rs 814, SBI has moved up 1.89% (Rs 12) to Rs 635.Bharti has soared 3.93% (Rs 9) to Rs 229, and BHEL has shot up 2.21% (Rs 16) to Rs 738. While Hindalco has advanced 2.94% (Rs 38) to Rs 1,325, Tata Power has added 2.44% (Rs 9) to Rs 386.Ranbaxy has surged 2.33% (Rs 25) to Rs 1,098. Dr. Reddy's at Rs 758 (up Rs 14 or 1.82%) and Cipla at Rs 282 (up Rs 7 or 2.56%) have commenced firm.
