The Sensex has opened on a strong note for the second consecutive day, gaining 159 points at 19,355 and the Nifty added 51 points at 5,805. In the broader markets, the midcap index opened up 0.7% in line with the benchmark index and the smallcap has opened at 9,019, adding 0.4%.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Capital Goods is the only index that started in the negative, down 0.1%. Realty, Bankex and IT has gained 1% each in the opening trades.
Tata Motors up 2%,ICICI Bank, Sterlite, DLF, TCS, Jaiprakash Associates,Infosys, HDFC Bank and HDFC adding 1% each are the top gainers in the opening trades.
The losers on the Sensex are Tata Steel down 2%, L&T and Maruti Suzuki shedding 1% each. Hero Honda, Tata Power, Hindustan Unilever losing 0.7% - 0.8% are the other noteable losers.
The market breadth is very positive. 910 stocks have advanced while 378 have declined.
