The Sensex has pared gains and is now up 173 points at 17,979.The NSE Nifty is up 41 points at 5,311.Mahindra & Mahindra has zoomed 5% to Rs 662. HDFC and Larsen & Toubro have soared 4% each to Rs 2,680 and Rs 3,661, respectively.BHEL has surged 3.4% to Rs 2,255, and Ranbaxy has gained 3.2% at Rs 433.ICICI Bank has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 1,139. ONGC has added 1.5% to Rs 1,044.Tata Steel, Reliance, Hindalco, Maruti and Hindustan Unilever have advanced over 1% each to Rs 820, Rs 2,610, Rs 200, Rs 823 and Rs 222, respectively.Grasim has dropped 2.5% to Rs 2,966. Infosys has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 1,632.TCS, Bajaj Auto, Satyam, ACC and Wipro are down around 1% each at Rs 887, Rs 2,185, Rs 445, Rs 823 and Rs 440, respectively.Out of 2,733 stocks traded so far, 1,768 have advanced, 888 have declined and 77 are unchagned.
