The Sensex after touching a low of 17,054 has rebounded into the positive zone on the back of fresh buying. The index is now up 60 points at 17,245.
Wipro has surged 2% to Rs 652. Hindalco has added 1.6% to Rs 149.
Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever are also up over 1% each.
Maruti has slipped 1.3% to Rs 1,614. ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have also declined over 1% each.
Tata Steel too is down 1% at Rs 578.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,424 stocks traded so far, 1,480 have advanced, 866 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
Reliance Media World tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 124.90 crore followed by SBI (Rs 61.25 crore), Satyam (Rs 50 crore), HDIL (Rs 46.56 crore) and Unitech (Rs 36.29 crore).
Reliance Media World also leads the volume chart with trades of around 99.44 lakh shares. It is followed by Satyam (51.06 million), SpiceJet (49.92 lakh), Unitech (41.20 lakh) and Suzlon (37 lakh).
