Sensex recovers marginally, M&M gains 5%

The Sensex has recovered partially and is now down 66 points at 11,306.

The index today opened flat at 11,371, and touched a high of 11,376. Thereafter, it slipped into the negative zone and touched a low of 11,239.

Bharti Airtel has shed 2.5% at Rs 724. Wipro, Sterlite and Tata Power have declined over 2% each to Rs 317, Rs 406 and Rs 845, respectively.

NTPC, ICICI Bank and HDFC have plunged nearly 2% each to Rs 185, Rs 459 and Rs 1,770, respectively.

Tata Steel, BHEL, Grasim, Reliance Communications, ACC, Hindalco, ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Motors and ONGC have also dropped.

However, Jaiprakash Associates has rallied 5% to Rs 137. Mahindra & Mahindra has advanced 4.5% to Rs 497.

SBI and Maruti Suzuki have added 1% each to Rs 1,293 and Rs 814, respectively.
