Sensex regains strength

The Sensex has regained strength and is now up 301 points at 15,706.

The Sensex is now quoting at 15,519, up 114 points and the Nifty is at 4,588, up 25 points

The markets have opened in the green on the back of positive Asian cues. The Sensex is quoting at 15,602, stronger by 197 points and the Nifty is placed at 4622, higher by 58 points.

The leading Sensex gainers are Hindalco (stronger by 4% at Rs Rs 114), Jaiprakash (higher by 2% at Rs 200) and Infosys (up 2% at Rs 2,203).

Reliance, ICICI Bank, DLF, Sterlite and TCS gained between 2% and 3% each.

On the loser's side, Tata Power shed 2% to Rs 1,281, State Bank of India gave up 1% to Rs 2,077 and HDFC Bank lost nearly 1% and is trading at Rs 1,591.

The market breadth is strong. Out of 1,215 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 964 advancing stocks as against 229 declines.

VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS

Reliance topped the value charts with a turnover of Rs 38.37 crore, followed by State Bank of India (Rs 22.13 crore), DLF (Rs 20.03 crore), Suzlon (Rs 19.10 crore) and HDIL (Rs 17.22 crore).

Suzlon leads the volume charts with trades of around 22.15 million shares, followed by Reliance Natural Resources (21.49 million), Unitech (11.58 million), Ispat (8.75 million) and Reliance Communications (7.03 million).
