The Sensex, after yesterday's volatile session, opened flat at 12,101- down 30 points this morning. Soon the index fell to 12,041. It tried to recover but could only manage to touch a high of 12,127 - still down four points from its previous close.
The index has again extended losses and is now down 71 points at 12,060.
ICICI Bank has slumped 3% to Rs 554. Sterlite and Tata Motors have shed 1.5% each at Rs 471 and Rs 269, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS and Hindustan Unilever have declined 1% each.
Reliance Communications and Grasim has advanced 1.5% each to Rs 241 and Rs 1,815, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure, Wipro, Tata Power, Ranbaxy, DLF, Larsen & Toubro, BHEL, ACC, Hindalco and Jaiprakash Associates have added 1% each.
