The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 105 points at 14,557. Weakness in the global stock markets along with depreciating rupee, which dipped to nearly two-year low of 45.41/45.45 against the US dollar, mainly dampened the trading sentiments today.
The Sensex, had lost over 280 points in the past two sessions. The index moved in a range of 292 points between 14,266 (low) and 14,558 (high) before finally settling with a loss of 339 points at 14,339 .
The market breadth was negative - out of 2,714 stocks traded, 1,786 declined, 853 advanced and 75 were unchanged today.
The NSE Nifty dropped 110 points to settle at 4291 .
INDEX SHAKERS...
Bharti Airtel slumped 4.4% to Rs 776.

Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance tumbled over 4.1% to Rs 992 and Rs 1,998, respectively.
ONGC plunged 3.8% to Rs 1,035.
Tata Power dipped 3.5% to Rs 1,012.
DLF and Jaiprakash Associates lost over 3.2% each to Rs 486 and Rs 162, respectively.
Mahindra and Mahindra slipped 3% to Rs 560. BHEL and NTPC declined 2.7% each to Rs 1,665 and Rs 173, respectively.
Maruti and HDFC lost 2.3% each at Rs 679 and Rs 2,266, respectively.
ICICI Bank and Hindalco dipped 2% each at Rs 687 and Rs 122, respectively.
HDFC Bank, Larsen & Turbo, TCS, ITC, State Bank of India and Tata Steel are the other losers.

Tata Motors gained 1.3% at Rs 424. Ranbaxy was up 0.3% at Rs 459.
MOST ACTIVE COUNTERS
Reliance topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 478.91 crore followed by Reliance Capital (Rs 240.70 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 165.73 crore), Austral Coke (Rs 162.14 crore) and Larsen and Turbo (Rs 145.88 crore).
IFCI led the volume chart with trades of around 1.52 crore shares followed by Tata Teleservices (1 crore), Reliance Natural Resources (86.99 lakh), Austral Coke (67.31 lakh) and Reliance Petroleum (67.2 lakh).
