Sensex sheds early gains, up 28 points

The markets opened on a strong note on Tuesday. But the gains were tripped by profit booking, across the board, towards close.

The Sensex closed at 18,075.66, up 27.61 points, compared with the day's high of 18,314. The Nifty reacted sharply from 5,368 to close at 5,280.80, up merely four points. The marketwide advance decline ratio on BSE was positive at 1512:1217.
