Sensex slips around 100pts

The Sensex has slipped further and is now at 16,777, down 76 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,976, down 27 points.

The Sensex after opening 22 points lower at 16,822, rebounded into the positive zone for a brief while to touch a high of 16,881. The index however failed to retain its firmness and slipped back into the negative. The index is now at 16,828, down 16 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,995, down eight points.

The BSE metal index is down 1% at 15,489.

INDEX SHAKERS...

Tata Steel is the maximum loser, down 3% at Rs 511. Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco and Sterlite have declined over 1% each.

Maruti, Wipro, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 1,472, Rs 625, Rs 1,457 and Rs 304, respectively.

TCS and Infosys are up 1% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive, out of 1,240 shares traded, 689 have advanced and 488 have declined on the BSE.

VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS

Indiabulls Realestate has topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs 1,577.94 crore. It is followed by Tata Steel (Rs 34.63 crore), DLF (28.42 crore), Suzlon (Rs 27.87 crore) and Mahindra Satyam (Rs 27.37 crore).

Indiabulls Realestate has also topped the volume chart on the BSE with a trades of 65.11 million. It is followed by Cals Refineries (8.16 million), Suzlon (4.27 million),Mahindra Satyam (2.96 million) and  Firstobject Technologies (2.65 million).
