Sensex slips into red; Rel Infra, Hindalco drop 2%

The Sensex has slipped into the red and is now down 44 points at 9,540 owing to profit-taking. Earlier in the day, the index today touched a high of 9,725.

DLF has soared 5.5% to Rs 147. Mahindra & Mahindra has surged nearly 4% to Rs 285.

HDFC Bank has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 946. Reliance Communications and Maruti have moved up around 2.5% each to Rs 171 and Rs 608, respectively.

BHEL and Ranbaxy have gained 2% each at Rs 1,421 and Rs 232, respectively.

SBI, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro and Sun Pharma are up around 1.5% each at Rs 1,166, Rs 1,515, Rs 684 and Rs 1,105, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have dropped over 2% each to Rs 564 and Rs 45, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and Jaiprakash Associates have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 656, Rs 197, Rs 139 and Rs 74, respectively.

Sterlite, NTPC and ITC are down over 1% each at Rs 278, Rs 181 and Rs 181, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,445 stocks traded so far, 1,322 have advanced, 1,009 have declined and 114 are unchanged.
