Buying has intensified in mid-noon trades as steep rally in most of the old and economy stocks has pushed the Sensex closer towards the 6,500 mark. The Sensex, after witnessing a strong upsurge in the first half, has soared 113 points to 6,494 in current trades. The Nifty has moved up 38 points to 2,032.ITC is trading with steep gains at Rs 1,337 - up Rs 56 or 4.39%. While ONGC has scaled up 1.58% (Rs 14) to Rs 873, Reliance is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 548. HLL is up a rupee at Rs 133.Infosys has upped its gains by 2% (Rs 44) to Rs 2,213, while Satyam has clocked 4.10% gains (Rs 16) to Rs 413. Wipro has advanced 4.44% (Rs 28) to Rs 658.ICICI Bank has flared up 4.55% (Rs 17) to Rs 400. While HDFC Bank has gained 2.10% (Rs 11) to Rs 544, SBI is marginally up at Rs 663.Bajaj, on reports of the company hiking the prices of its bikes from April, has notched up 2.80% gains (Rs 29) to Rs 1,063. Hero Honda is down a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 540.Cipla has flared up 2.21% (Rs 6) to Rs 257, while Dr. Reddy's has shed 1.63% (Rs 12) to Rs 734. Ranbaxy, too, is trading lower at Rs 1,009 - down Rs 15 or 1.47%.Hindalco (up Rs 19 or 1.45% to Rs 1,302), BHEL (up Rs 15 or 2% to Rs 766), Bharti (up Rs 2 to Rs 205) and Tata Power (up Rs 5 to Rs 361) are trading with steady gains.PSU stocks have flared up in mid-noon trades. Balmer Lawrie has spurted 11.30% (Rs 21) to Rs 206. While BEML has jumped 9.38% (Rs 31) to Rs 360, Chennai Petro has advanced 7.34% (Rs 16) to Rs 234. HMT, Dredging Corp, Madras Fertilisers, Kochi Refineries and Hindustan Organics are up in a range of 4-6%.Consumer durable stocks, too, have attracted considerable buying support. Titan has surged nearly 6% (Rs 13) to Rs 229. While Su-Raj Diamond has jumped 5.44% to Rs 37, Blue Star has added 4.35% to Rs 252. Mirc Electronics at Rs 21 (up 3.61%) and Samtel Color at Rs 90 (up 3.23%) are also trading at higher levels.
