The market is still exhibiting weakness, but has slightly come off from its early noon lows. Weak trend continues to prevail in heavyweights, tech and auto pivotals, although fresh buying has emerged in select banking stocks. The Sensex is now down 25 points at 6,543. The Nifty also has partially recovered from its early slide, and is down three points at 2,067.ITC has shed 1.93% (Rs 25) to Rs 1,295. Reliance, with a volume of over 14.41 lakh on the BSE, is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 527, while HLL is up a tad at Rs 145.Infosys is trading lower by a per cent (Rs 19) at Rs 2,055. While Satyam has lost 1.31% (Rs 5) to Rs 409, Wipro is down a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 747.Tata Motors has declined 1.53% (Rs 8) to Rs 500 on volumes of over 7.57 lakh. Maruti (down Rs 3 to Rs 459) and Hero Honda (down a rupee to Rs 558) are trading at subdued levels.While L&T has slipped a per cent (Rs 10) to Rs 975, Bharti is down 1.20% (Rs 3) at Rs 210. SBI, with a volume of over 11.39 lakh, has attracted fresh buying support, and has moved up 1.50% (Rs 9) to Rs 631. While HDFC Bank is up a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 516, ICICI Bank is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 368.ONGC is holding on to its gains at Rs 821 - up Rs 7. Hindalco is trading firm with a gain of 1.50% (Rs 21) at Rs 1,435.Banking stocks are trading with decent gains. Uco Bank has shot up 9.23% (Rs 3) to Rs 33. While J&K Bank has added 3.64% (Rs 13) to Rs 364, PNB has gained 3.40% (Rs 13) to Rs 406. Andhra Bank, UTI Bank, Oriental Bank, Canara Bank and Union Bank are up in a range of 1-2%.Select counters have eased on selling pressure. Mukand Iron & Steel has lost 5.93% (Rs 3) to Rs 49. While Eicher Motors has declined 4.88% (Rs 12) to Rs 243. Alstom Project has slipped 4.87% (Rs 5) to Rs 92, Mid-day Multimedia is down 4.75% at Rs 67.Blue Star at Rs 271, Hindustan Construction at Rs 363, Royal Airway at Rs 35, Gammon India at Rs 734, Gujarat NRE Coke at Rs 193 and Vrdhman Indsutries at Rs 29 have clocked their new highs on the BSE.
