The Sensex opened at 17,525, mirroring strong gloabl cues. The Sensex is now at 17,580, up 72 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,259, up 25 points.
ONGC has advanced 2% to Rs 1,219. Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Industries and DLF have added over 1.5% each at Rs 167, Rs 1,106 and Rs 394, respectively.
Sterlite, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bharti Airtel are up 1% each at Rs 875, Rs 1,167 and Rs 322, respectively.
IT stocks like Infosys, TCS and Wipro are down 1% each at Rs 2,657, Rs 777 and Rs 709, respectively.
