Aftter opening marginally higher at 11,565, the Sensex exhibited high volatility in the morning trades. A fresh round of selling in late morning deals, following yesterday's sell-off, saw the index tumble to a low of 11,444. Metal stocks bore the brunt of the selling pressure in morning deals.Renewed buying interest, mainly in banking and technology stocks, in noon deals saw the index recoup losses and rebound into positive zone. The buying gained momentum towards the close, and the index rallied to a high of 11,672 - up 228 points from the day's low.The Sensex finally ended with a smart gain of 110 points at 11,661.The BSE Bankex and IT index advanced nearly 2% each to 5336 and 4224, respectively. The Auto index was up 1% at 5084.The market breadth was neutral - out of 2,544 stocks traded, 1,227 advanced, 1,233 declined and 84 were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSReliance Communications and Hero Honda rallied 3.5% each to Rs 325 and Rs 771, respectively.ACC, NTPC and TCS surged 2.5% each to Rs 929, Rs 124 and Rs 979, respectively.HDFC Bank advanced 2.2% to Rs 841. Infosys and Cipla gained 2% each to Rs 1,770 and Rs 250, respectively.Reliance added 1.8% to Rs 1,107. SBI, ICICI Bank and Gujarat Ambuja were up 1.5% each at Rs 932, Rs 605 and Rs 112, respectively.ONGC slipped 2.3% to Rs 1,150. Hindalco dropped 1.3% to Rs 172, and BHEL declined 1% to Rs 2,230.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSReliance topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 236 crore followed by Indiabulls (Rs 178 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 122 crore), Zee Tele (Rs 103.40 crore) and Century Textiles (Rs 88.25 crore).Indiabulls led the volume chart with trades of around 51.58 lakh shares followed by Birla VXL (47.80 lakh), Hotel Leelaventure (42 lakh), Hindalco (37.80 lakh) and Zee Tele (34.39 lakh).
