The Sensex opened marginally higher (12 points) at 13,295, and exhibited nervousness in early trades on account of weak Asian indices. The index, however, gained strength towards early noon deals, and rallied sharply towards the end to a new all-time, intra-day high of 13,410. The Sensex finally settled with a gain of 116 points at 13,399.While the BSE Teck index rallied 1.4% to 3380, the Metal index slipped 1.3% to 9098.The market breadth was positive - out of 2,626 stocks traded, 1,472 advanced, 1,082 declined and 72 were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSNTPC surged 5.7% (Rs 7) to Rs 138. HDFC (Rs 60) and Bharti Airtel (Rs 21) rallied 4% each to Rs 1,555 and Rs 565, respectively.Reliance Communications soared over 3% to Rs 404. Reliance Energy added 2.7% to Rs 535.Tata Motors and Gujarat Ambuja moved up nearly 2% each to Rs 834 and Rs 137, respectively.ICICI Bank, Wipro, Infosys and HDFC Bank were up 1% each at Rs 841, Rs 542, Rs 2,161 and Rs 1,055, respectively.Hero Honda dropped 1.5% to Rs 715. Hindalco and Tata Steel slipped over 1% each to Rs 182 and Rs 497, respectively.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSShyam Telecom topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 114.35 crore followed by Jaiprakash Associates (Rs 110 crore), Hindustan Zinc (Rs 92 crore), Reliance Communications (Rs 75 crore) and Reliance (Rs 72 crore).GTL Infrastructure led the volume chart with trades of around 1.10 crore shares followed by Shyam Telecom (71.35 lakh), Godrej Consumers (35.60 lakh), CCS Infotech (32.50 lakh) and Facor Alloys (32.25 lakh).
