Sensex surges 148pts

 Gujarat Ambuja and Grasim have rallied around 4% each to Rs 112 and Rs 2,124, respectively. Hindalco has advanced 3.6% to Rs 133.

HDFC Bank has gained over 3% at Rs 955. Satyam, Cipla, HDFC and ACC are up over 2.5% each to Rs 445, Rs 230, Rs 1,575 and Rs 757, respectively.

Out of 2,524 stocks traded so far, 1,441 have advanced, 1,019 have declined and 64 are unchanged.
