The market has gained considerable strength in the afternoon trades following fresh buying support in old and new economy stocks, although cement, auto and select heavyweights continue to witness weak trends. The Sensex has moved up 42 points to 6,891, while the Nifty has gained 16 points to 2,164.Reliance has flared up 4.61% (Rs 26) to Rs 584. ONGC has gained 2% (Rs 18) to Rs 907.SBI has edged higher by 1.76% (Rs 13) to Rs 730. HDFC Bank has soared 4.42% (Rs 25) to Rs 602. ICICI Bank has inched up by 1.41% (Rs 6) to Rs 402.Infosys has moved up a per cent (Rs 21) to Rs 2,239. While Satyam has added 1.50% (Rs 6) to Rs 406, Wipro has shed 3% (Rs 21) to Rs 719.Hindalco has zoomed 3.66% (Rs 50) to Rs 1,425. While HDFC has mopped up 4% (Rs 31) to Rs 804, Reliance Energy has added 2.68% (Rs 15) to Rs 572.While ITC has lost 1.87% (Rs 25) to Rs 1,371, HLL has extended its losses by 3% (Rs 5) to Rs 146. HPCL has scaled down 1.56% (Rs 5) to Rs 338.L&T has shed 1.34% (Rs 15) to Rs 1,115 after recent gains, while Zee has tumbled 5.48% (Rs 7) to Rs 143.Bajaj continues to trade weak at Rs 1,094 - down Rs 10. Other auto stocks are also exhibting weakness.
