The Sensex today opened 71 points higher at 10,969. The index then fell to a low of 10,949, before gaining strength. The index is now up 113 points at 11,012.
Wipro has soared almost 6% to Rs 290. Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Communications and ICICI Bank have surged 3% each to Rs 696, Rs 225 and Rs 410, respectively.
ACC, Tata Steel and DLF have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 630, Rs 251 and Rs 244, respectively.
HDFC, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy, Hindalco and Reliance have added 1-2% each.
Meanwhile, Sun Pharma and Maruti Suzuki have slipped 2% each to Rs 1,194 and Rs 776, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, NTPC and BHEL have also declined.
The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,038 stocks traded, 1,388 have advanced while 591 have declined.
