The Sensex opened 75 points higher at 9,541 on the back of positive global cues. The index is now 151 points at 9,616.
Jaiprakash Associates and Mahindra & Mahindra have surged around 3% each to Rs 75 and Rs 308, respectively.
Reliance Infrastrructure and ICICI Bank have rallied over 2.5% each to Rs 564 and Rs 432, respectively.
Maruti and Sterlite have advanced over 2% each to Rs 627 and Rs 274, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro, ONGC, Tata Steel, Reliance and Grasim are up nearly 2% each.
