The Sensex is now up 155 points at 9,863. Earlier in the day, the index opened 37 points higher at 9,746, but soon slipped into red to a low of 9,546.
HDFC and Ranbaxy have soared 7% each to Rs 1,510 and Rs 177, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure and DLF have soared over 5% each to Rs 542 and Rs 176, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has rallied over 4% to Rs 399. Infosys and ICICI Bank have gained 3.3% each at Rs 1,368 and Rs 344, respectively.
Reliance Communications and Tata Power have advanced over 3% each to Rs 180 and Rs 789, respectively.
ONGC and Reliance are up nearly 3% each at Rs 802 and Rs 1,566, respectively.

Sun Pharma have slumped 4.7% to Rs 1,060. BHEL has plunged 2.7% to Rs 1,463.
Bharti Airtel and Sterlite have shed 2% each at Rs 613 and Rs 349, respectively.
NTPC, Grasim and Hindustan Unilever have dropped around 1.5% each to Rs 177, Rs 1,550 and Rs 235, respectively.
The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,370 stocks traded so far, 1,693 have advanced, 611 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
