The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 47 points at 13,649. Fresh buying in the opening trades saw the index flare up to a high of 13,712. Continued selling in select index heavyweights saw the index dip into the negative zone at the fag end of the day. The index dropped to a low of 13,586 - down 126 points from the day's high.The Sensex finally settled with a gain of 15 points at 13,617.The BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap indices were up around 1.5% each at 5728 and 6635 respectively.The market breadth was extremely positive - out of 2,623 stocks traded, 1,658 advanced, 890 declined and the rest were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSACC soared over 4% to Rs 1,146. Grasim surged 2.7% to Rs 2,790, and Gujarat Ambuja added 2% to Rs 146.ITC rallied 2.5% to Rs 184. Dr.Reddy's moved up 1.6% to Rs 735.Bajaj Auto, TCS and Reliance Communications were up over 1% each to Rs 2,673, Rs 1,164 and Rs 422, respectively.Cipla shed 2.5% to Rs 249. ONGC and Bharti Airtel slipped over 1% each to Rs 857 and Rs 621, respectively.VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSLanco Infrastructure topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 294.50 crore followed by Info Edge (149.50 crore), Unitech (Rs 145 crore), Action Constructions (Rs 98 crore) and Reliance Communications (Rs 88.70 crore).Lanco Infrastructure led the volume chart with trades of around 1.14 crore shares followed by Torrent Power (71 lakh), Amar Remedies (52.65 lakh), Shiva Cement (47.70 lakh) and Pricol (44.70 lakh).
