The Sensex is now up 162 points at 17,921.The NSE Nifty is up 51 points at 5,218.Reliance has surged over 3% to Rs 2,547.Bajaj Auto and ONGC have rallied around 2.5% each to Rs 2,328 and Rs 991, respectively.Bharti Airtel, Infosys and Tata Motors have advanced over 2% each to Rs 871, Rs 1,525 and Rs 711, respectively.Reliance Communications, Hindustan Unilever and NTPC have gained 1.8% each at Rs 623, Rs 200 and Rs 205, respectively.HDFC Bank has advanced over 1% to Rs 1,550.Hindalco has slumped 5% to Rs 168. HDFC has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 2,815.SBI, ITC and Tata Steel have slipped over 1% each to Rs 2,193, Rs 197 and Rs 715, respectively.Cipla, Wipro and Grasim are also down over 1% each at Rs 187, Rs 408 and Rs 2,960, respectively.The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,506 stocks traded so far, 1,767 have declined, 684 have advanced and 55 are unchanged.
