The Sensex is now up 42 points at 12,504.Earlier in the day, the index zoomed to a new life-time intra-day high of 12,545, and then tumbled to a low of 12,356 - a swing of 189 points.Tata Motors and ONGC have rallied 3% each to Rs 991 and Rs 1,419, respectively.Tata Steel has surged 2.6% to Rs 661. Satyam, HDFC, Maruti, Larsen & Toubro and Bajaj Auto are up 1.5% each at Rs 794, Rs 1,362, Rs 953, Rs 2,762 and Rs 3,171, respectively.Dr.Reddy's has slipped 2.3% to Rs 1,645. HDFC Bank and Bharti Tele have dropped over 1.5% each to Rs 855 and Rs 416, respectively.Out of 2,584 stocks traded so far, 1,468 have advanced, 1,047 have declined and the rest are unchanged.Punjab Alkalies, Bombay Burmah and Goetze India have hit the 20% upper limit each at Rs 53.70, Rs 449 and Rs 305, respectively.Ramsarup Industries has zoomed over 18% to Rs 120. Flex Engineering, Saint Gobain, Chowgule Steamship, Whirlpool, Mascon Global, SKF India, Sun TV, Alok Industries, India Cement and FDC are the other major gainers.GMR Industries has slumped 10% to Rs 269. J L Morison, Dynemic Products, Birla Ericsson, Malwa Cotton, United Breweries, Color Chips, Standard Industries, Aditya Birla Nuvo, Bombay Dyeing, United Phosphorous, Finolex Cables and G E Shipping are the other prominent losers.
