The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 35 points at 13,108. Fresh buying in the opening trades saw the index touch a high of 13,193. The index, however, could not hold gains and soon tumbled into negative zone to a low of 13,070 - down 123 points from the day's high.That set the trend for the rest of the day as the index exhibited volatile movements, albiet with a positive bias, before settling with a gain of 65 points at 13,137.The BSE Bankex moved up 1.4% to 6577. The Auto and FMCG indices were up almost 1% each at 5303 and 2072, respectively. The Metal index was the sole loser and finished at 9134, down 27 points.The market breadth was positive - out of 2,576 stocks traded, 1,478 advanced, 1,020 declined and the rest were unchanged today.INDEX MOVERS & SHAKERSSatyam rallied 3% (Rs 13) to Rs 428. Reliance Communications and ICICI Bank advanced over 2% each to Rs 388 and Rs 799, respectively.ONGC surged 1.7% to Rs 871. Cipla, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and HLL added 1.5% each to Rs 271, Rs 501, Rs 1,017 and Rs 250, respectively.ITC gained 1% at Rs 187. Reliance was up Rs 9 at Rs 1,261.Maruti and Hindalco dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 911 and Rs 183, respectively. Grasim shed 2.5% (Rs 71) to Rs 2,695.HDFC, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel declined 1% each to Rs 1,505, Rs 2,605 and Rs 538, respectively.NEW LISTINGGTL Infrastructure, demerged unit of GTL, today listed at Rs 38. The stock swung in a wide range, high of Rs 60 and low of Rs 35, before settling at Rs 44. VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERSReliance topped the value chart with a turnover of Rs 264.50 crore followed by GTL Infrastructure (Rs 117.20 crore), Hindustan Zinc (Rs 116 crore), Maruti (Rs 78.50 crore) and India Infoline (Rs 74.70 crore).GTL Infrastructure led the volume chart with trades of around 2.51 crore shares followed by Tata Tele (99 lakh), Vishal Exports (92.20 lakh), DCB (68 lakh) and IFCI (56.85 lakh).
