The Sensex after attemting a partial recovery has again slipped into the negative. The index is now at 16,043, down 109 points. The NSE Nifty is at 4,798, down 28 points.
Bharti Airtel has plunged 8.5% to Rs 288. Sterlite and Reliance Communications have declined 3% each to Rs 744 and Rs 165, respectively.
Tata Power, Reliance Infrastructure, Maruti, HUL, SBI, Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and ACC are down over 1% each.
BHEL, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank were up 1% each.
The market breadth continues to be negative, out of 2,804 shares traded, 1,494 have declined and 1,237 have advanced so far on the BSE.
The BSE TECk, consumer durables and oil & gas indices are down 1% each.
