The Sensex opened in the negative tracking weak cues from the global markets at 16,867. The index for a brief while rebounded into the positive but has again slipped back into thje red. The index is now at 16,823, down 64 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,017, down 16 points.
Tata Motors, BHEL and Bharti Airtel have advanced over 1% each at Rs 695, Rs 2,382 and Rs 319, respectively.
Wipro, Sun Pharma and TCS were firm at Rs 663, Rs 1,459 and Rs 703, respectively.
Tata Power and Larsen & Toubro have slipped 1% each to Rs 1,310 and Rs 1,668, respectively.
