The Sensex opened in the positive zone at 16,912 but however slipped into the red owing to subdued cues from the gloabl markets all over. The index is now at 16,870, down 42 points.
Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Wipro is the major gainer, up 1% at Rs 681. Tata Steel, TCS and Hindalco are up 1% each at Rs 563, Rs 720 and Rs 144, respectively.
HDFC is the mjaor loser on the BSE, down 1.5% at Rs 2,573. It is followed by DLF, Reliance Infrastructure and HDFC Bank , down 1% each.
The market breadth is positive, out of 1,373 shares traded, 878 have advanced and 450 shares have declined so far on the BSE.
