Buoyed by the extended rally in global markets, silver futures prices zoomed to hit yet another high of Rs 36,719 per kg today, as speculators enlarged positions.
Firming trend at the domestic markets where the white metal prices crossed Rs 37,000 per kg level on seasonal demand, also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, silver delivery for December surged Rs 259, or 0.70 per cent, to hit a record high of Rs 36,719 per kg, with a heavy business turnover of 6,964 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in July gained Rs 464, or 1.28 per cent, to Rs 36,902 per kg, clocking a turnover of one lot.
Meanwhile, spot prices of silver spurted by Rs 1,175 to an all-time high of Rs 37,365 per kg at Mumbai in yesterday's trading.
Marketmen said extended rally in silver prices in global markets, where it soared to a fresh 30-year high of $24.71 an ounce, supported the upward trend in futures prices here.
