Silver futures decline 0.5% on overseas trend

Silver for delivery in far-month September fell by 0.53%

Tracking a weak trend overseas, silver prices fell by 0.58% to Rs 43,784 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July lost Rs 257, or 0.58%, to Rs 43,784 per kg, with a turnover of 768 lots.

Similarly, silver for delivery in far-month September fell by Rs 237, or 0.53%, to Rs 44,251 per kg, in a business turnover of 20 lots.

Analysts said a weak trend in global markets before the US Federal Reserve concludes a policy meeting that may indicate when the central bank will reduce asset purchases, mainly put pressure on silver prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, in Singapore, silver dropped to trade at $21.691 an ounce from $21.68 yesterday.
