Silver prices fell by 2.24 per cent in futures trade today on falling demand amid a weakening trend in the international markets.
The silver for May contract fell by 2.24 per cent to Rs 20,993 per kg on the Multi Commodity Exchange. The contract registered a business volume of 3,263 lots.
The metal for the July-month contract lost 2.23 per cent to Rs 21,000 per kg in a trading volume of 107 lots and for delivery in September, it fell by 1.58 per cent to Rs 21,280 per kg in trading of two lots.
Selling pressure gathered momentum on reports that silver might see further low levels on falling demand, marketmen said.
